چکیده

Scheduling complex problem solving tasks, where tasks are interrelated and there are multiple diierent ways to go about achieving a particular task, is an imprecise science and the justiication for this lies soundly in the combinatorics of the scheduling problem. Intractable problems require approximate solutions. We have developed a new domain-independent approach to task scheduling called Design-to-Criteria that controls the combinatorics via a satisscing methodology and custom designs schedules to meet a particular client's goal criteria. In Design-to-Criteria, criteria directed focusing, approximation, and heuristics, in conjunction with soft goal criteria are used to make the scheduling problem tractable. We describe the interesting facets of the Design-to-Criteria approach and give examples of its power at reducing the complexity of the scheduling task while designing custom satisscing schedules.

A new Shuffled Genetic-based Task Scheduling Algorithm in Heterogeneous Distributed Systems

Distributed systems such as Grid- and Cloud Computing provision web services to their users in all of the world. One of the most important concerns which service providers encounter is to handle total cost of ownership (TCO). The large part of TCO is related to power consumption due to inefficient resource management. Task scheduling module as a key component can has drastic impact on both user...

An Effective Task Scheduling Framework for Cloud Computing using NSGA-II

Cloud computing is a model for convenient on-demand user’s access to changeable and configurable computing resources such as networks, servers, storage, applications, and services with minimal management of resources and service provider interaction. Task scheduling is regarded as a fundamental issue in cloud computing which aims at distributing the load on the different resources of a distribu...

Pre-scheduling and Scheduling of Task Graph on Homogeneous Multiprocessor Systems

Task graph scheduling is a multi-objective optimization and NP-hard problem. In this paper a new algorithm on homogeneous multiprocessors systems is proposed. These two parameters are up to a certain limit in contrast with each other and improvement of one causes reduction in the othe...
